Author Bio

Hi. My name is David. My hometown is Orinda, California which is about 30 minutes east of San Francisco. I have two wonderful parents and three siblings, two older sisters and a younger brother. My ethnic heritage is Chinese and I am proud to be an America-born Chinese (ABC). I am a Christ-follower and have a calling from God to be a medical missionary in a place of greatest need. I desire to share Jesus’ love and gospel of redemption with people of all nations and point people toward Jesus who heals physical, emotional and spiritual wounds.

I attended Orinda public schools: Glorietta Elementary, Orinda Intermediate and Miramonte High School. In high school, I ran on the cross country and track teams all four years earning the Most Inspirational Award multiple times and being named one of the captains my senior year. I also played forward on the MHS basketball team three years. I was also part of the Miramonte choral program four years, including the top Choral Artists group, who won the top award of Unanimous Superior at the California Music Educators Association evaluation each of those years. I also earned the top award in Boy Scouting, the Eagle Scout award. I graduated with honors and membership in the California Junior Scholastic Federation.

I now attend Baylor University where I am majoring in Medical humanities and pre-med and am in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) program.  I will be a junior undergraduate student when the fall 2011 semester starts. At Baylor I am President of UNITE Christian Fellowship, Baylor’s multi-ethnic Intervarsity chapter, where I lead a small group Bible study, and a member of the International Justice Mission (IJM) chapter as well as Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD), an honor’s society. I hope to graduate in four years and attend Medical school to become a Family Practice physician.

I love studying culture, sociology and religion. And in my spare time, I enjoy playing sports like basketball, ping pong and ultimate frisbee. In addition, I enjoy listening to Christian music as well as making music through guitar, singing and piano. Among other things I enjoy in my free time, I particularly love having deep talks with friends and observing people (aka- people watching).

To echo the Apostle Paul’s words, it is “by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me [is] not without effect” (1 Corinthians 15:10). I thank God for all of the blessings that He has bestowed upon me and all the wonderful plans that He has in store for my future!
